Rev. Hannah Scanlon: Preaching on Sunday, May 31st, 2026
Rev. Hannah Scanlon is the Chaplain of the Menaul School in Albuquerque, NM, one of the few remaining PCUSA secondary schools in the country. She holds a BA in Philosophy from Calvin College, an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary, and is now a PhD candidate in Theology at the University of Toronto. Her dissertation explores the intersection of Karl Barth’s Doctrine of Creation and the field of environmental studies, with a particular focus on non-human animals. Hannah delights preaching in Chapel, teaching religion classes and coaching Menaul’s cross country team. When she is not working, she loves running in the mountains with her dog, gardening, and reading.

From Pastor Ginna: Interested in helping with Calebcare in June or July?
Hello church family! I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone, but I’ll be back at work in 3 weeks! I’m looking forward to reconnecting with all of you, and introducing you to Baby Caleb, if you haven’t already met him.

Caleb will be going to daycare at UNM Taos Kids’ Campus, but a spot will not open up for him until mid-August. That means he’ll be coming to work with me in June, July, and early August.

In order for me to do my job well and not have constantly divided attention, I’m looking for people to sit with him in the new nursery in my office while I work – we’ll call it Calebcare (patent pending!). I’m in the process of putting together a combination of paid and volunteer help, and I know several of you have offered to babysit, so I’m reaching to see who is interested/available and when.

If you are interested in volunteering to hang with Caleb, would you please email me your interest and availability? I’m looking for coverage on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 10 AM and 3 PM and during meetings already on the calendar (so Session meetings, 5-7 PM on the third Thursday, Deacon meetings after church one Sunday a month, etc.).

The church nursery will be set up, and I’ll be on site at all times, so really I just need folks who can come to church and play with him, change diapers, put him down for naps, and either feed him or bring him to me for feedings if I’m not in a meeting. I ask that anyone who sits with him be up to date on vaccines and that you cancel if you aren’t feeling well or are running a fever.

Thank you all so much for your willingness to help and to be part of his church family! I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Ginna

Meal Train for The Bairby Family
The Meal Train for The Bairby Family is rolling! Here is the link for the website: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/rynw17.
If you need help signing up to the website to provide a meal, please call Valerie (575-758-3124) or email her (churchoffice@firstpresbyteriantaos.com) during working hours and she will sign you up.
We are so grateful for all those willing to sign up to bring food. Please keep in mind that an offer to bring food is just that, not a guaranteed opportunity for a visit or to meet the baby. Thank you in advance for your willingness to be flexible!

Taos Opera Institute
Arriving this weekend: 22 Young Artists from around the country, our esteemed teachers and pianists, and Dr Mark Craig—our phenomenal General Director—to bring you the 18th Season of Taos Opera Institute! Continuing our dedication to bringing opera to all, 15 concerts are free, in delightful venues all over our beautiful Taos Valley.
On Saturday, May 30, 3-5pm, TOI Aria Concert will be at First Presbyterian Church of Taos. It is a FREE CONCERT.
