I’m New

First Presbyterian Church of Taos seeks to extend a welcome worthy of the calling we have received in Jesus Christ to welcome both friends and strangers as brothers, sisters, siblings, and neighbors.

A person reads to several children seated around them in a colorful room with a whiteboard and bean bags.

WELCOME!

We welcome people of all races, nationalities, genders, sexual orientations, ages, classes, abilities, and life experiences, into membership and our Christian life together.

We welcome diversity as a gift that helps us better live as the Body of Christ and embody the Kingdom of God.

The only requirements for membership at First Presbyterian Church of Taos are a profession of trust in God’s grace in Jesus Christ and a desire to become part of the fellowship and ministry of Christ’s church.

If you are interested in becoming a member, let Pastor Ginna, an Elder or Deacon of the church know of your interest.

We would love to have you as part of our community!

Please do! Will I be welcome if I am part of the LGBTQIA+ Community?

Absolutely. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) affirms and celebrates the diversity of people who that God has created in God’s image, including people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, non-binary, and two-spirited. People of all genders can become members, elders, deacons, and ministers. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) joyfully marries both same-sex and different-sex couples. First Presbyterian Church of Taos in particular has members from all walks of life, and a pastor who identifies as lesbian. Whoever you are, and whatever your life and love look like, we hope you will find a welcome here.

Can I take communion if I’m not Presbyterian? Can my kids take communion?

Yes. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) believes that the table at which we are served during Communion, or the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, is Christ’s table, not ours. We welcome all people to the table regardless of and rather in celebration of age, baptismal status, beliefs, race, nationality, profession, gender, sexual orientation, and past or present situation in life. God’s grace extends to all, and we seek to embody a table that is just as open and diverse!
